A new independent coffee shop called “Oui Mais Non” opened in Montreal and for their first week, gave away free coffee. I stopped by on Friday to check them out.
I was very impressed with the coffee bar, details, vibe, and immediately felt at home. Although the barista didn’t know a flat white, when I explained what it is she made something with a french name which is essentially the same as a flat white. It was delicious. The iced coffee is also great.
It is a skinny rectangular shaped shop with a large door at the front that is opened when the weather is good, letting the breeze and culture of the street in. Simple lightbulbs hang below timber beams on the ceiling, and the wooden details continue to the long bar separating the room down the middle. A large square table and a piano are at the back, with smaller table and chairs along the wall to the front.
The staff and baristas were positive and offered excellent service despite the constant stream of coffee drinkers filtering through the door (partly due to the free coffee I’m sure).
I took this opportunity to shoot some video of the coffee shop, in a showcase-promotional style. I will post this as soon as it’s edited, so watch this space.
